I try to keep up to date with news and events taking place around the world. I believe my interest in current events comes from knowing that these present events will one day be history. I have always enjoyed history. At a very young age, I took interest in historical figures and events. While history refers to the past it really has meaning in the present, I think of it as a blue print for the future. This is why I have chosen History as my concentration in education. My hobbies and interests had little influence on the jobs that I have held. I have had four jobs in my lifetime so far. They have provided me with much experience outside of my education. My first job was at a company named Kim Kool, Inc. The company built industrial oil coolers, which are large radiators. My job was to  bell (expand into a bell shape) the end of the tubes which would be inserted into the cooler. I would  bell hundreds and hundreds of tubes everyday. I left Kim Kool to work at JC Penney. I was hired on as a customer service associate. I would keep the department I was working in clean, as well as tending to the needs of customers. My next job, at Hollister clothing store, was similar. Here, I provided customer service and maintained the store upkeep. I was asked to be Lead Stock. This job involves running the stockroom of the store. I had to keep all shelves and back stocked clothes in the proper place as well as keeping the room clean. I have been working at Hollister for a year and six months, but have returned to customer service and I am no longer Lead Stock. I am attending McNeese State University. My major is Education with a concentration in History. This autobiography will include my personal information, my experiences, and my short and long term goals. It will also include why I chose History as my major. I was born in Jennings, Louisiana on January 24, 1988. The town of Jennings is the neighboring town of my parents hometown of Lake Arthur. Both of my parents spent most of their childhood in Lake Arthur as well as Jennings. Despite my parents being raised in Lake Arthur they did not want their children growing up there. So when I was just a baby my parents moved me and my two older sisters to a then little town north of Lake Charles, named Moss Bluff. Although we would move again, it was here on 2439 Santa Rosa Rd, where I would stay for the majority of my childhood. There are many things that interest me, and provide hobbies to pass the time. Some of them are: drawing, politics, current events, movie trivia, and history. Growing up I became very interested in art, specifically drawing. Since most of my family is artistically inclined, there was not much in the way of my interest. I can draw almost anything, but it has to be drawn already. My hindrance has always been that I can not draw 3-D objects. As I got older I began to lose interest in drawing, and since then I have put it aside. Government, and particularly politics, began to catch my attention as I got older. I love arguing politics with most anyone. I enjoy the competition and the excitement during election season. I like expressing my political beliefs, while also respecting others. Speeches, letters, and quotes from past presidents and historical political leaders are some of the things much outside of family. I have experience babysitting children, and I have also volunteered as a team leader to work with the children at Vacation Bible School at a local church. I also have experience tutoring. In high school, I tutored a fellow classmate in Chemistry and Algebra 2. I have many short and long term goals that I would like to accomplish. I want to graduate from McNeese State University with a teaching degree in History. Another short term goal I would like to attain a teaching job in secondary education in Calcasieu parish. Referring to my long term goals, I would like to go into law school, and possibly government. I want to be actively involved in political campaigns. Who knows what the future holds for me. I chose teaching as my career for several reasons. First, I have a love of history. I like to read and learn new things about our country s history and current events. I enjoy telling people facts they do not know about history. It is disappointing to know how ignorant some people are when it comes to their nation s history or world history.
